MAY 4: Baobab Community Performance

The Baobab Tree Drum Dance Community, directed by Kathy Armstrong, will be performing​ at the Kitchener Market on Saturday May, 4th. 

MAY 5: Racial Justice and Music, Panel Event

Kitchener City Hall Rotunda

 

2:00-4:00pm

 

FREE

Panel discussion on Racial Justice and Music, and the role of music in promoting racial justice within the education system and broader community. Led by Fanis Juma Radstake and featuring panelists MPP Laura Mae Lindo, Joni NehRita, and Arabella Hareem Abid. 

​

Also featuring youth performances from the African, Caribbean and Black Identifying Community. 

MAY 6: Mass Gahu Event

Kitchener City Hall

Carl Zehr Square 

 

9:30am-1:30pm

 

FREE

Over 400 local high-school students will gather at Kitchener City Hall and be led by Ghanaian master drummer Kwasi Dunyo in a mass musical experience of Ghanaian drumming, dancing and singing.

Afro Fusion Dance Team

The Afro Fusion Dance group is made up of ACBI students at Cameron Heights that share a passion for dance and Afro centred arts. The group launched this year through the support and guidance of their staff sponsor Katie Knowlton. This group was featured at the Cameron Heights Black History Month Assembly as well as at the Kitchener Youth Awards Ceremony.
